Problems with bidding on e bay

I have been buying items from e bay for the past four years but recently things have changed for the worse for irish bidders. I now have to request the postage to ireland from most sellers and then when they reply with the cost and I bid i then get a pop up that tells me that i do not meet the buyer requirements. It advises I contact the seller and request that they exempt me from the buyer requirements in order to allow my bid.
Then when i e mail the seller they usually reply that they did not realise that they had set these requirements. Some are able to change it for me and others have e mailed me asking how they can change this.
I have e mailed e bay about this but got a standard reply that had no relivance to my query.
Anyone else have this problem ? Or is there anything else I can do about it ?

These are options for the seller to set, and there's nothing you can do to change how they set up their auction.

If an auction doesn't specify postage to Ireland, I normally don't even bother with it, so I haven't noticed this as a problem. You're trying to buy from sellers that have excluded Ireland from bidding, this is nothing to do with eBay, so you won't get a response from them on it.

I know and understand what you are saying but some sellers do not realise that they have excluded buyers from the auctions according to a few replies that I got.

But why has it changed for the worst only recently
Has there been a change in eBay regulations ?

Is it possibly to do with been logged in to say , eBay .ie and bidding on eBay.com .

Or been logged into eBay.com and bidding on eBay.co.uk ?

Could it be that the sellers are just not bothered to tick the right boxes when posting items for sale ?

I have the Belfast postcode on an address on my eBay account so when I email a seller asking if they post to Ireland they say yes, but they can't change the listing for whatever reason I just set the address with the Belfast postcode as my primary address and I have no problems bidding, then if I win the auction, I'll change my address back to my normal Irish address without the Belfast postcode, it's always worked for me.

This is the post code: BT11AA

Always remember to change back to your normal Irish address BEFORE you pay though.

I'm 99% sure that up to very recently ebay.ie only showed auctions where the seller was willing to deliver to Ireland. Now that seems to have changed and all the 'UK only' auctions are also visible. This is a real pain as it makes it very hard to find auctions where the seller is actually prepared to sell to you.

Why has ebay.ie made this change?
