You'd need to figure out why it went, is the car burning a lot of oil or anything else unusual,
no point in just replacing it for it to go again.
sometimes they just go but a lot of the time an ignition fault or similar makes it fail.

Mechanic plugged in because warning light was on and equipment is saying cat gone,car is running fine otherwise.

Could be anything from 170-250.

Make sure you keep the cat that comes off it. Worth a couple quid to a scrapyard.
