Vote in this poll (please vote for Freddie Mercury, let's be fair) as the vote is live and will be updated every 30 minutes - the eventual winners will be listed in a readers poll of the best singers of all time.

At the moment I'm liking Freddie and Axl in the Top 3

Moved to General Music as it's not Rock & Metal specific.

The NME doesn't appear to have heard of many singers.

    Ummm,

    Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, AudioSlave)

Mike Patton (Faith no More, Mr Bungle)

If I had to vote for singers on that list I'd go for Cobain, Gaye and Elvis... but I don't and it's a very poor list.

I'd have to go with David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Robert Plant, Elton John and Axl Rose (back in the day).

Shouldn't it called ''greatest front man of all time''?

I mean, Axl Rose, 4th greatest singer of all time? Eh, no.

The greatest vocalist ever was Karen Carpenter, purest voice I've ever heard.

Also a great drummer, bless her. Very technical.

So far Joni Mitchell isn't even in the top twenty. I despair for humanity.

How can anyone even consider putting Mike Skinner (The Streets) in a list of 'the greatest singers of all time'?

Otis Redding not in the top 20...Axl at no.4, Marvin Gaye at 19...
