with my laptop, and just wondering if some1 here might know what is wrong and assist me please?

when i do a scan in normal mode with malwarebytes and superantispyware nothing shows up, then when i try to restart it in safe mode and do a scan it shuts down, and keeps shutting down everytime i try start in safe mode.

it starts fine in normal mode but nothing is detected as i've said above when i do scans.

does any1 know of any malware that could be causing this and, if possible, know a way to fix the problem?

thanks in advance for any help :)

    es-cee.

I have just encountered a new infection that is causing endless booting loops. Seems to be behaving like a worm and is infecting random windows .sys. Have you tried all the safe modes/DSRM/last known good config?

i've done 2 system repairs and had to restore as far back as the 25th of last month to get it to work somewhat decent, but its still happening when i try to reboot in safe mode. a lad i was talking to reckon si probably need to crash the laptop and reinstall everything, i dont want to go down this rout as i have alot of stuff on my pc i want and no room on my ext hdd to transfer it.
he also reckons it might be protected or somethin thats why it keeps shutting down everytme i try safe mode.
has my head totally wrecked at this stage

I don't have any more info on what I have encountered as I am remoting into the PC at the end. I personally think if it is what I think it is It will require a reinstall of windows.

ok, thanks for the help mate.

Did you try a repair using the setup disc? You can get to a recovery console and there are a few utils there?

    this is for XP

Its not a rookit thats for sure, if you dont have a CD its not a big issue. You technically own the CD key so you could just download a copy of the correct version and use your keycode.

i'm not the most technically minded person lol, could you send me a link as to were to get this download from please?
also were would i locate the keycode, users manual is it?

Is there not a recovery partition on the harddrive? Keep pressing F11 or Ctrl +F11 or F12 or F9 on startup. It'll be one of them.

This thread may be worth a read. Post 3---->I've never done this.
