I played a lot years ago & got down to single figures.
I played with a lovely set of Mizzuno blades which sadly have rusted away.
I've been using peripheral weighted irons since I got back into it but they are a pale comparison & feel like hitting a hurl off concrete.
I'm looking for something like these Nike Blades but a bit more affordable.

I'd recommend the Callaway x-forged, they would be a bit more forgiving than those Nikes, lovely feel to them and look good at address.i reckon you could probably get a new set of them for about 400eu,although i dont know if they are still being made?

I would recommend Mizuno MP-60s.I play these so I'm obviously biased but you can pick them up pretty cheap now days (golfbidder if you in a rush). Occasionally I hit one out of the middle of the club and my god it feels amazing and go's a mile. Only occasionally though ;)

I recently replaced my MP-60s with a new set of MP-63s (once you go Mizuno anything else is a step backwards) I haven't put my old ones up for sale but would be willing to part with them for not a huge amount if you're interested you can pm me. Only snag is the 4 iron is missing. They have DG stiff shafts

I don't know OP. I never really see people playing blades anymore. Only the odd person here and there.

Neither the X-Forged or the MP-60s are blades though.
I also play with the MP-60's and they are a beautiful club, but they're not a
    blade.

That is true. They're more muscleback really.

How do the MP63's compare to the MP60's?
    Which do you prefer?
Like you, I reckon I'll stay with Mizuno for a long time. Beautiful clubs.

The 63s really but that could be down to the new lighter shaft. I've gone from 7 to 5 in the 2 months I've had them. I think it speaks volumes that luke donald never changed from the 62s to the 63s though.

No. Not even if they were being given away free. Golf is meant to be fun.

Hey OP I feel your pain.
I just started playing seriously again this year after a long break and after messing around with some cavity backs I've gone back to pure blades too. Wilson Staff FG62 to be precise. They are just perfect.

For the last couple of weeks i've been dreaming over these mizuno mp 68 black nickel irons, but I'm no way near consistent enough yet to be playing them, I only started playing again last year after about 8 years off, and I'm currently off 15. I had a lovely set of daiwa dg 201 blades back when I was a teenager, nothing as sweet as a pure strike out of the centre of a blade, but I think I'll stick with my i10's for the moment :)

Yea actually no one plays what could be described as proper blades anymore. Don't even think any manufacturer makes them. So now the term blades/muscle-back is used inter changeably.

Muscle back is actually a game improvement feature from about 50 years ago. It's the norm now so people still call them blades.

    Below is a genuine blade

Here is a picture of Titliest 710mb irons. The mb in the name actually stands for muscle back. What we now conventionally call blades.

Moral of the story Blades and Musclebacks are the same thing.
    The Mp-60's are a muscle-back with a small cavity.

You can pick up mizunos for decent money 2nd hand - I've just upgraded from MP-30s to MP-33s and selling the 30s so PM me if you've any interest in seeing them although they do have a half cavity so not a true blade although a good intermediate when moving from game improvement.

I can also recommend the MP-33s. Lovely looking clubs and can be picked for reasonable money if you look around :D

I've offered the OP a free set of MP33's well used but still have plenty more use in them. I think they will be antiques before I get to a level to be able to play.

I consider a set of Irons in decent condition for £100 a good price and a Callaway FT5 driver for £80 a good price. I am a punter looking for value.

    So whats your angle ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,612 ✭✭✭BigChap1759

No angle - having compared prices on many clubs and many bought/sold on Ebay I can categorically say that Golfbidder is not good value - especially if you are selling clubs which is when they really fleece you.

Totally agree, They are well over priced, only plus is they have a huge selection.
