    I'm selling my 1999 2.5 v6 Alfa.
It needs a CV joint replaced and it is proving dearer than I thought to fix it.
I only want 1200 for the car so not willing to pay money to have it fixed. If I don't get it fixed what should I take off the price?

Er, seems a bit simple: How much does it cost to fix? Subtract that from your asking price.

This is the one with no evidense of the belts being done isn't it? Is it NCTd? Without a test, with no proof of a belt change and needing a CV joint you'll struggle to see €800 for it.

You're presuming his asking price is realistic though.

It got NCT'd two months ago but because it was backdated will need to be done again in July.

Car is in great nick and is priced the same or cheaper as the rest online.

Would 200 for a CV sound right?

€200 should cover a CV joint.

This car will be hard to move, they never sold well and are dated now.
I like them myself but wouldn't pay more than €700 for a 1999 - and that's with a longer NCT and no work required.

Great car and worth more than the market values it at, 2.5l version will be harder still.
Try some of the owner forums for a good deal on parts and selling advise.

Without a decent length on the NCT it will struggle to sell at anywhere near your asking price imo. I'd stick it through the NCT again, if it doesn't pass at least you can show a potential buyer what needs fixing on the fail sheet.

With petrol at ~€1.50/l motor tax at just shy of €1k PA, big german metal can now be had for the kind of money mentioned by the OP without costing any more to run (maybe less in maintenance considering they all have timing chains).
As much as I'd love to hear that V6 start up in the morning, even with a two year NCT (is it too late for one of them on a 1999 car?), a documented recent belt change and no work needing to be done, it will struggle to sell at any price.
Anyone remember the 3.0 v6 that featured in the bangernomics thread? The asking price fell and fell until it hit €500 IIRC and even then, it's hard to know if it sold or the seller just scrapped it, a crying shame if he did but the reality of the market.

I always thought the only engines that made sense in the 166 were the 2.4JTD (LHD only) and the V6. So at least this is a proper 166...

I'm getting the cv done for 100 yoyo and have agreed 1100 with a buyer so not too bad. Now on to the next banger.

    Any suggestions?

    30mpg minimum.

    After that I don't care.

Yeah the buyer was ready to go but I hadnt 200 to shell out on a CV joint.
Getting the whole shaft replaced second hand for 100.

Now for the next car in my adventure.
