Falken or Hankook tyres - which model?

Need a new set of tyres for my Focus (205/55/16) and have heard good things about the above brands. Question is which brand & model number to go for? (e.g. Falken FK452, Hankook Ventus Prime K105 etc.).

Will probably order them from Camskill.co.uk unless anyone knows anywhere in Dublin selling them at a comparible price?...

    Cheers.

I think both tyres are pretty much on a par, both good mid range brands.

Camskill are doing a good deal on Continentals in that size at just €10 extre a corner:

Had Falken 452's on all 4 corners back when I had the vRS and I found them great. They're also now on the rear of my new second hand car and I'm finding them good/controllable in this weather we've been having lately.

My local tyre fitter swears by Hankook..
I have no experience of any of them but the Hankoks are going on my vRS when the time comes

Meh, a vRS doesn't produce enough torque to warrant putting tyres on it.

Camskill are v competitive for falkens. I had 452's on the GT and found them good and just put ze912's on the Legacy. Only on a week so too early to comment.

Thought about getting them from camskill but DMcCanns in Blanch did me a good price for the 4 with wheel alignment

I have the 452's on my focus 1.6 diesel:

Rears: Almost 10K miles and have a remaining thread depth of about 6.5mm
Fronts: Almost 6K miles and have a remaining thread depth of about 6.75mm

I'm no experts on tyres etc, but the car seems to handle well with them...

PS: the original tyres (sorry not sure of brand), lasted 33K & 37K miles for a point of reference...

Checked the tyres again the other day. I have the falkens 452's on my focus 1.6 diesel:

Rears: 24K miles and have a remaining thread depth of just over 5mm
Fronts: 20K miles and have a remaining thread depth of just over 4mm

Rears: 37K miles and have a remaining thread depth of just under 4.5mm

    Update:

The fronts were changed at 37.5K miles as they were down to those markers. Have put Hankook Venus Prime2 on for comparison.

The rears are still going with 42K miles so far.

Thats good mileage in fairness. I have/had Falkens on my Integra; the back two are still going strong nearly 30k km later, the front two lasted about 15k km. Good tires; not the longest lasting but excellent performance, and tbh Im quite happy to sacrifice a bit of tire life for a softer tire that gives better grip.

I know it is counter-intuitive, but major tyre manufacturers recommend that you put the better (i.e. more tread) set of tyres on the rear.
