Appeals Procedure

I am currently in the second year of my Ph.D., having completed a taught M.Phil prior to starting my present degree. When applying for a grant for my M.Phil., I was informed that I would be eligible for maintenance for up to four years.

Having contacted my local city council rergarding this year's renewal form, I've been told that my maintenance is now complete. Given that I've only completed three out of the four years stipulated in the original reward, I have no idea why I'm ineligible for fourth-year funding.

I would be grateful for any advice offered about this situation, especially regarding my appeal options.

Well first thing to do is to ask the council why

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
