iPad 2 - Is there still a supply shortage?

Hi Guys,

Just wondering what the story is with the seemingly global (and indeed more local) supply shortage of iPads. I'm thinking of getting one for a relative but unfortunately, Birthdays can't wait! I'm living in Cork and as far as I can gather from reading the past posts and from the research that I've done, the supply shortage is still ongoing at an awful rate.


Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Takes 2-3 from the online store in reality from what I'm hearing, and someone I know who works in the retail store(s) said that it's pretty much a month instore.

You'd probably be well off going the eBay route tbh!

I know it's a hell of a distance for you, but my friend bought one in the Apple Store in Victoria Sq in Belfast on Sunday, no hassle. In and out in 5 mins.

Ordered one on 29/05/11, got an email on Sunday to say it was dispatched and should arrive 14/06/11

CompuB on Opera Lane mentioned it's a 2 to 3 week wait. They got a few in today but they were all snatched up by pre-orders. I put my name down for one but in the meantime I'll take a look at all the alternatives. Belfast might be a bit of a stretch alright. The nearest I'll be to there between now and August is in two weeks time when I'm Dublin for a few days which might defeat the purpose of trecking to Belfast to get it

Whatever about people saying this is manufactured supply shortage to increase demand. If it were, Apple have dug themselves into a fairly sizable hole with no chance of rescue. I can't wait for iPod Touch 5G and iPhone 5 to be launched just to see how Apple copes with lack of supply :D

Try Stream Solutions in Doughcloyne, they had them in the beginning, and were very helpful.

Just to let you know, this arrived today, so delivery only took 10 days from placing order on apple.com.

I think this depend on different country.
But you can try to order on the Apple online store.

I took a trip to Stream earlier. They have 64gig WIFI only and 32gig 3G models. A bit too expensive for me but if anyone else are looking at them, Stream say them have them in stock.

I put my name down there as well for the 16gig black with a polyurethane smart cover. I was actually surprised by how friendly the staff were as well. Loads of wins

No ipad 2 available in pretty much the whole of London at the moment, even in the 2 massive Apple flagship stores.

I've had something against Currys in Mahon for years. Nothing to be discussed on here for risk of going off topic but I wouldn't give my business to them.

Your not the only one who feels that way about them, In fairness to them there doing their best to change things.

I've heard that the stocks of the iPad that were due to come in next week won't be coming in after all.

Feck. I managed to get one first week they came out, but now the home button has more or less stopped working. Guess I'm facing the same delay if i try and return it then?

Not necessarily. Bring to an AASP. They'll either repair it or replace it with a refurb.
