I think your grant should be fine but I could be wrong.

Ok, I just hear it happens in some colleges...

Who should I contact via a phone call, just to make sure my grant isn't affected into 2nd year?

If you ring the main switchboard and ask for the grants section they should put you through

    071 91 55222

If you are progressing on to second year from first year with the rest of your class there are no issues you should retain the grant.

Te problem arises if you can't go into second year, you won't get the grant for first year again unless you are transferring to a different programme, and you will also have to pay fees to repeat the first year.

You should do all you can to pass the exam in the autumn. There are a couple of days when you can speak to the lecturer for advice. Email the lecturers and make an appointment immediately to see them when your results are out. Ask to see your paper to see where you have gone wrong. Try and find if the repeat exam is much different from the summer exam, find out if you have to repeat any continuous assessment and then just work on getting the answers.

If there is some part of the course that you don't understand. Try and see if they will help you with it when you meet them.

Most lecturers aren't to bad if you Talk to them.
