Hi, Im after putting in a few stoves in the last few months for people. All going well so far. Im after getting a new job now but im confined for space. The new job is for a public house down the road. There confined for space in a number of areas. The floor space is tight so stove can not be out in room as well as the chimney dosent reallly help. Its an old chimney thats unlined so im just going to use a flexi liner. Im going to take an exit from back or stove to join aprox 1 metere of a cast iron pipe then join the flexi liner to te cast iron pipe. Im confined to space around stove so i cant have a cleaning plate on the 90 degree bend of chimney. Its a pain. Can anyone tell me. would it be a big job to clean the chimeny from top down as well would it be a big job to clean out ash from 90 degree bend. And the millon dollar question would there be mush sut in the flexi liner compared to an open cast chimeny.

Can you get a cleaning door on the vertical piece of the flue? You could get the 90o from inside the stove.

I wouldn't go with the flexible liner, id widen the opening of the fire stick in an arch bar (long thin piece of metal) just below the lintle for support, then id recess the stove into the opening fit a registered plate with a cleaning door and run a solid piece of pipe through it. Always ensure there is a minimum of 4 inches clearence round the stove for movement of air, also building regs require a minimum of 300mm of non combustable material in front of a closed fuel appliance, so you'll prob need a hearth if its not a concrete or tiled floor

I may use a flexi liner because there is no flue liner in chimney at all its an old type open chimney. Theres no lining at all apart from the slate that the house is built from. I can get the flexi flue for smalll enough money. Get the vat back as well. I think with a stanley stove yea can clean them out from inside the stove. So Maybe use one of them flexi rods for cleaning it out insted of normal rods. buy one of the ash vacs as well maybe. Its only thinking stage yet anyway dont really plan on building up a brick fire place as project is being done on a confined budget.
