My Brother picked up a copy of Portal 2 in GameStop Athlone today for €19.98. Down from €34.99.

I'd love to get it but I'm not sure if it will run on my computer! My specs are

    Pentium D 3.00Ghz
    1GB RAM
nVidia GeForce 6700XL (dxdiag says there's approx 376mb total memory??)
    DirectX 11
    Windows 7 Ultimate

These are the Steam system requirements as a guide:
    OS: Windows 7 / Vista / XP
Processor: 3.0 GHz P4, Dual Core 2.0 (or higher) or AMD64X2 (or higher)
    Memory: 1GB XP / 2GB Vista
Hard Disk Space: At least 7.6 GB of Space
Video: Video card must be 128 MB or more and should be a DirectX 9-compatible with support for Pixel Shader 2.0b (ATI Radeon X800 or higher / NVIDIA GeForce 7600 or higher / Intel HD Graphics 2000 or higher).
    Audio: DirectX 9.0c compatible

Edit: I should say the original Orange Box runs perfectly even with the graphics turned up fairly high!

    Try can you run it?
also ask in the portal thread in Games

i ran it on mine, bit stuttery at times, but i put that down to the integrated graphics card in my laptop :)

Thank you the link is much appreciated! CYRI says that I can't run it due to not having enough RAM, and that it suggests an upgrade to the graphics card - oh well, I'll probably buy it anyway, if I get a new computer I can look forward to Portal then :P

    Sorry for derailing the thread.

Can you run it is a great thing, been using it for quite a while, i thought everyone knew about it :P Occasionally it'll tell you that you can't run a game when you can, but it'll still run very poorly if you have for example too low a shader model but everything else is up to scratch.

Portal 2 is still 35 on the gamestop website :( Guess it's back to my original plan of getting it during the christmas sale when it's like 50 or 66% off. Damn good price for that game though, especially so soon after release.

While that's a great offer OP, just to let ye know if ye didn't: The PS3 version of Portal 2 comes with a downloadable version for the PC also. (You just need to enter the supplied code to Steam and download it.) Woohoo!!!

Sound. yeah I had read that somewere, it's a great deal. That usually retails for €50 and my brother said it was in gamestop for €35 if anyone is interested.

Thats a great deal for getting both formats though. I don't mind getting it for the PC only as it was cheaper and my poor ps3's Laser has been kaput for some time now...it's ok though because I have the Xbox 360S :)

Excellent, I'll pick this up tomorrow after work. Got Crysis 2 for 19.99 in GameStop Swords last week. Can't beat the value for PC games.

I would ignore the website in that case and check in store if you can at all.

Nah won't be anywhere near a gamestop for 2 weeks or more, if the deal's still on then i'll get it, otherwise i'll just have to wait :(

Not much luck in KK. They have the case on display, same price but it says back in stock soon. I didn't bother to ask though. It must be the reason for the unavailability on the website too. How can you have something on sale if no stock??
