    hi all

just looking for a bit of advice. the esb are replacing poles in our area and we are not ready for electric yet but they are after putting a pole in beside our house, about 10feet from the house!! we didnt actually realise that they were putting one up in our field. we are not keen on where it is and i am going to ask them to move it tomorrow, hopefully they might be nice and move i it!
i am just wondering if there is a certain distance that it had to be away from the house?

    thanks

If it falls over, ideally, it shouldn't fall on the house. :)

ESB will have their own rules.

If a site has an esb poll on it, who's responsible for moving the ESB poll, i take it its the ESB.

    Who pays for it?

Generally ESB, unless you screw them around and have them do it a few times.

Had similar problem when we were buiding our house 10 years ago.

Except with ours they planted 2 poles , 1 in our site and 1 just outside in anticipation that we would be getting connected soon. ( Looked terrible )

We had planned to take our supply from existing pole in adjoining field (with owners consent of course) and bringing it underground to house.

So I drew rough sketch and contacted the chap who was in charge of our area for ESB and he was very helpful and job was sorted shortly after.

all sorted now, i asked the lads that were replacing the poles to move it today and they did, they put it where we wanted to as well. so that was gret :)
