If the front suspension shock cover is no longer covering the seal, is this a sign that its its time too change the shocks. the passaenger side cover is still covering the seal. They are the same ones that came with the car. its 02.

Shock should still be ok but don't leave it too long as dirt sticking to the shaft could wear the seal. Check for oil leaks and if ok, wipe clean and just fix the dust cover back on with a cable tie. If you can't get a long enough one just stick the serrated end of one into the catch of another to make up the size.

I get the feeling they need too be replaced. They don't sound right when going speed bumps in athlone and plus the country road I do take too get there the filling of the pot holes is so bad that I some times have too go on the other side of the road just too avoid them only if its clear ahead. I'll it looked at.
