Quick question. Some friends of mine are moving to Drogheda & we were discussing TV options for them.

He tends to buy everything the adults watch on BD, but for the kids in a day to day scenario, they were wondering are they able to receive the above via mmds & what the quality would be like?

He has an intense dislike of sky & doesn't want to subscribe to them.

MMDS is the poorest pay tv offering, better off with FTA if he doesn't like Sky or can't get UPC cable.

MMDS is a waste of time compared to Freesat/Saorview or indeed Sky themselves. Rupert Murdoch could have taught Chorus a thing or two about providing what pay tv customers wanted, I knew several people who took up MMDS as soon as it launched in Louth and all of them have dropped it for Sky.

I don't know exactly what channels are available on MMDS unfortunately, calling them *might* give answers but I've seen at least one discussion on boards where UPC staff didn't have much of a clue when it came to MMDS and the differences with it etc.

I don't get this hammering of UPC's MMDS system. I have it on a package that would put Sky to shame:D. And, Yes you can get Sky Movies and most if not all the Disney channels on MMDS.

It's worse if you're using MMDS in ex-Chorus areas like where the OP's friends are moving to. The picture quality is a disaster whenever I've seen ex-Chorus MMDS, it's like watching tetris at times!

In that case I'm thankful (lucky) to be in an ex NTL area:)

Forgot that-we better not tell the op that most of the money ends up with Sky anyway as they sell channels to UPC.;)
A bit like people protesting against mobile phone masts yet ring Joe Duffy from their mobile.
