DVD Stuck.

I put a DVD in, mac doesn't react to it, doesn't read it on the screen, doesn't make the general noises it normally would when reading a disk.

    Any advice?
I switched it off and tried to force eject as I was turning it on but no luck, when I press the eject button nothing happens, usually the symbol for eject comes up on screen.

Jeeezz, do you not know the drill???

Its time for a new Mac of course.

Is it showing in System Profiler?

Is the DVD showing in Disk Utility? There's an eject button there you can try using.

What kind of Mac is it?

    Restarted the machine?

Still not working, could be a dead drive.

If you open it up and remove the 2 cables and reattach them while the machine is off it may help.

    Drives are really cheap anyway.

You can also force eject a stuck/unmounted disk by holding the mouse button down on power up.

had this last week on my Mac

power off machine - insert playing card/business card half way into dvd drive - power on the machine - the disk will attempt to read and eject - tada
