Is it a fuse or the bulb.

    Newbie question. Sorry.

Noticed last night that one of the bulbs on my drivers side rear is not working.

Ie. When I apply the brakes it does not light. When I have the lights on it does light. But when I apply the brakes with the lights on, it does not appear brighter like the passenger side does.

Is it the bulb its self or a fuse.

Car is an Opel Corsa C (2000-2003)

I know how the access the bulbs, and happy to change them my self, but find it odd that the bulb lights, but does not appear brighter when the brakes are on and wondering if could be something else.

Again, sorry for the newbie question.

If it was all of your brake lights, I'd say a fuse, but a single bulb not working means that it likely needs to be replaced. In many/most cases, these bulbs are dual filament, meaning that the lesser light will still work while the brighter one doesn't (and vice-versa).

Doubt its the fuse. Most likely the bulb itself. What you have is a stop and tail bulb. When the brake light comes on the side light usually goes out, so that would be why there are no lights on when you press the brake if the lights are on, if you get my meaning.

Get one in Carraroe auto factors, cheaper than halfords.

Bought the bulb down there this morning (half the price of halfords) before wondering if it could be fuse related.

All done, changed and tested in 10-15 minutes.

    :)
