We do not tolerate people that talk or text in the theater. In fact, before every film, we have several warnings on screen to prevent such happenings. Occasionally, someone doesn't follow the rules, and we do, in fact, kick their asses out of our theater. This video is an actual voicemail from a woman that was kicked out of one of our Austin theaters. Thanks, anonymous woman, for being awesome.

(naughty language within.. so NSFW without earphones..)

Still one of my biggest pet peeves in a cinema visit.. wish it was more enforced here!

I would love that to be brought in over here.

And I'd also like them to screen people coming in to filter out the dickheads. I know that technology is available dammit.

Talking and not putting your phone on silent is a big no no. Kicking someone out for sending a text is harsh imho.

Meh, I imagine I'd be more distracted by a screaming cow being forcefully ejected than her silently texting away on the other side of the cinema.

    Harsh maybe..

.. but if that person was sitting next to you with the backlit screen outstretched in front of him / her, it can be distracting.

We don't pay 10 euro to have some ignorant arsehole shine a light in our face.

If they're not gonna watch the film they shouldn't be there to begin with.

This is a great idea. Irish cinemas take note please.

They should just play this before every movie. :)

Ah, but one lasts a couple of minutes while the other lasts the whole film. And I assure you, people who think they're texting "silently" are second only to people who think that they fart silently (and odourlessly, for that matter). They're all wrong, and they're all unpleasant to have in the cinema when you're trying to watch a film.

Good on the Alamo Drafthouse, I wish more cinemas would have the stones to actually crack down on nobby behaviour.

Yea if they're being dicks about it fair enough, same if they're constantly at it but if someone just sends a text and they're discreet as possible about it then its no biggie in my eyes

Nah it wouldn't be so bad. Whatever you think of him as a critic at least his full attention would be on the movie.

Massive smug cloud over his head might not go down well with people.

Well then you're being even more sensitive about other patrons than he is.

A quick look at a phone with the screen dimmed down on silent if you get a text=fine, I've done that myself, sitting there with it on full brightness and tapping away for the whole movies with KEYPAD TONES turned on= gtfo

The few times I've actually witnessed someone answer a phone in the cinema I've been reminded how fantastically stupid and rude people are.

    Doesn't happen much though.

I tend to find that if you check the time on your phone the film isn't doing its job right.

I've seen it a few times, answers phone "I'm at the cinema man". There was one occasion a few years back where the same guy kept making calls and on the third time after repeatedly telling him to shut up i grabbed his phone an threw it away, was not exactly in the best mood that day and much like happened in Californication the guy went bat **** crazy.

Was watching The Matrix and someone had a laser pointer that they had on the screen. It was moving around for about 30 seconds, when this gruff and manly sounding voice came out of the darkness "Someone point that cnut with the pointer...." Instantly it snapped off and there was a huge cheer from the assembly...

That's the kind of thing I go home wishing I had of done, had they been tied up and too powerless to give me a right kicking.

ugh, laser pointers, glad that fad ended, used to drive us nuts when I worked in a cinema trying to find the little cnuts using them

Judging by the voice mail she left, I really doubt she was being discreet about the texting!:D

Nice move by Alamo Drafthouse putting voicemail online.

My God, she is annoying. Stop asking questions in a voicemail you imbecile!

They should feck her into that room in Cube that's equipped with the decibel meter hooked up to the spikes.

I would be all for mobile phone scramblers being installed in cinemas.
Hell, I might start bringing one with me in future :)
