    Hi,

I would like to know which would be best?

Would it be best to claim social welfare and rent allowance for an unemployed person OR give their tax credits to their employed partner?
And if one were to give their partner their tax credits would the social welfare payments be cut, and if so by how much?

    Any input appreciated.

You can only share tax credits if you are married.
    Do they live together?
Is the 2nd person on jsa or jsb?

They`re not married, can one only use tax credits when one is married? The unemployed is on jsa, and they are living together.

    Hi
you have to be married to share tax credits. (Tax credits can be shared whether you are working or claiming) You will not be able to get rent allowance as one partner is working fulltime.
