Previous Tenant hasn't cancelled their UPC subscription

Recently moved into an apartment and tried to get TV and Broadband with UPC but UPC said the apartment was still 'live' and cannot proceed until the previous tenant cancels their subscription.
Cannot get in touch with previous tenant as they have left the country.
Is there another way around this anyone know?

    Ask landlord to cancel?

Odd. When I moved into my place, there was the same story, but they just cancelled the previous subscription and set me up new. Maybe it's cos you're renting. Agree with above, maybe see if the landlord can sort it.

Yeah, must ask the landlord as a last resort I suppose. Cheers
