Sourcing a replacement Fan for an '06 MBP

    Hey all,
Looks like my plan to get a new MBP this year is being sped up by the impending left fan failure in my current MBP. To be fair it's been working hard since 2006 and so I've no real complaints.
However in order to pass on my machine in good order I'd like to get a new fan fitted. I'm wondering if anyone knows if the Mac repair centers around Dublin would be willing to just sell the part? Or any places in Dublin where I could pick up just the part? I know I can get them on eBay but they are from China and other far flung locations (and I want it now!!).

-- from my MBP which is now louder than a diesel car that just failed it's NCT.

How is it going to be the battery?

I've had it powered on with the top of the case off (i.e. keyboard and speaker outlets area). The fan is the source of the loud noise and placing a finger over the motor section allows me to feel the vibrations coming from it. Comparing to my more silent right fan, where there is no vibration.

I'm going with the idea that the motor has seen better days.

Weirdly cases of this on forums and youtube seem to suggest it is mostly the left fan that dies. Possibly it is in a hotter section of the laptop and so crosses the line to the MTBF much sooner.

Anyway I think I've found a UK seller on eBay for this part but would much rather pick one up in Dublin.
