    but say if a company is recuiting for several different departments/positions, is it appropiate to apply for more than one of them, assuming you have the skills/qualification/experience for those areas, or would you be best just applying for the one you are best suited for or want the most.

    If applying for more than one position, could HR think that this person might not be 100% commited to this role as he/she as also applied to that role, and possibly use this as a reason to discard your application.

    I'd say go for it, I remember a time when I applied to the same company for different roles,same specification, and was called for an interview for one of them, they might view it as determination to work in that particular company, good luck with it

    I have before. But was always concious of how it might be received, and making sure that both cover letters were worded differently, and keeping my sale on my self relavent to the position.

    Looking at another place now, boths roles are totally different, but I would have the experince and back ground for both as well.
