British ultrarunner Jen Salter is two days into her epic run from Malin head to Mizen Head, transversing the length of Ireland. It's a 345 mile route, and she's already 140 miles down, after two days. Her blog is updated throughout the day by her support crew, it's a pretty interesting read to follow.

    Best of luck Jen!

Interesting reading indeed, as is the coverage (and lack of coverage) elsewhere on the web for what appears to be a guinness world record attempt.

Since I've gotten a couple of PM's already from posters referring to this, I may as well deal with the elephant in the room on-thread.

I debated myself for quite a while before I started this thread, because I really didn't want it to stir up all the **** from last year, but decided to post it because it was about running, and thus relevant to the forum. I'd really prefer if the internal politics behind previous runs were kept out of this discussion. But the forum should be strong enough not to have to censor anyone who wants to discuss genuine issues, so long as they are on the level.

This forum is for discussion of running, and people should feel free to do so.

Well said. Let's all get behind a fellow runner this time.

Here's hoping she breaks the current 'record' anyway.

Great to see her going for Malin to Mizen. I wish her all the best. If she gets the record it will be a great way to launch her business on the Irish market.
    She is a class runner.

Can you imagine any better advert than running Malin to mizen, for people to join her 'rock and roll' bus (@ Stg 2000)

Can you run it the other way?
Or would that just be up hill the entire way :D

Your chance to become a running superstar just like Eddie Izzard.
You got to love that :)

Wow, that's some serious preparation for setting up a stage race - I'd imagine it brings a lot of credibility for the first year of the event when the organizer has recently completed it herself! I still can't believe people do this stuff, sounds to be going well so far! :D

Wow, what a great achievement:D She appears to be keeping up some pace so far.Real pity though that such an incredible attempt has to almost be tip toed around!

On phone so can't comment properly but fingers crossed all continues to go well and that she sets a cracking time. Records are there to be broken and if her team see this and think there is anything the M2M crew from last year can do to help then I hope they get in touch

The cyclists prefer to go Mizen to Malin. 'Uphill' but with the prevailing wind. But then cyclists are a werid bunch

    Best of luck to her.

100 miles to go. Her progress has been fantastic, although they are making the point on her blog that the rain has been against them almost the whole time. Don't know how much sleep she's intending tonight, but they are saying it will be a very late night...

She only has thirty miles to go!! Just one more marathon + a bit:p She will clearly break the women's record, is she going to break the current men's one too-if she finishes by 5am as predicted??

Brilliant achievement. 4days, 23hrs, 3mins and 10seconds. Faster than the current male record; faster than HM's epic run last year; faster than five days. Jen's run really set a new yardstick in terms of Ultra records, and will take some beating. Well done to her.

    Massive run. Well done.

Didn't realise it at the time, but the first woman to finish the parkrun I did this weekend was Jen Salter trying her hand at a shorter run:

Resurrecting a 2 year old thread as an excuse to post an article that mentions you as winning a parkrun. Pathetic! ;)

    (Congrats!)
