    Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone can advise me on how to get rid of the annoying Key/Remember Password thing that comes up with the latest version of Google?

It's a key symbol beside the address bar with a dropdown which reads 'remember password for...' etc

I'm a pc user with windows XP on this desktop and I wouldn't mind if the key thing only came up once but it comes up repeatedly whenever i log into any password required website.

I'd appreciate any tips on what to do about this
    Thanks
    Dr F ;-)

Get rid of the Google toolbar, it has no function other than to spy on you and relay every link you click back to Google. Your browser will have a search window, set that to Google.

Thanks for the reply mate. Is that the only way to do it? How do get rid of the Google Toolbar:confused:...I don't see it in my list of programmes to install/uninstall?

    Thanks

If toolbars don't appear in add/remove programs you can usually remove them in Firefox, tools-->addons. You do not want any toolbars, their purpose is just to spy.
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_toolbars

Firefox has built-in search capability and shortcuts. You can easily set Google as the search engine that powers your browser's search functionality by default.
Find the search box in the upper right-hand side of your browser. Click the search engine icon in the search box. Select Google from the list.

I can't actually find anything relating to the key thing in my addons and I've got Google selected now...I think it's just something that comes with the latest version of firefox they have this on their site:

    http://www.mozilla.com/en-GB/firefox/features/
    Password Manager

Tired of trying to remember or retype your passwords every time you visit a favorite site? Firefox is here to help! You’ll be prompted with a non-intrusive option to remember passwords when you first log in—after that, Firefox will take care of the rest.

So i'm assuming that's it but since it doesn't seem to be in the addons and they don't say how to get rid of the thing...I might be stuck with it.

Usually with these things once you click 'never for this site' that's that - no more reminders - but this just keeps coming up.

Thanks for your help anyway mate!

Is it this you're on about in Firefox 4?

if you go to Tools -> Options -> Security, you'll see an option for "Remember passwords for sites". you can untick it and i think you won't get prompted by the thing i posted above. haven't tried it but not sure if it'll remember passwords you already use for logging in.

if you still want to use the password manager for some sites, you could add whatever sites you don't want the password remembered on to the Exceptions thing beside the above setting.
