I find that there is a clicking sound on RTÉ 1 analogue. What could be causing it? BTW, it is the same with both TV sets in the house.

My neighbour has a forcefield to stop the dog from leaving the garden. There is a device attached to the dog's neck to make the system work. How could this interfere with my analogue TV reception?

It mightn't be that but any device which uses intermittent bursts of electricity or where there is a physical switching of current on or off can do this. E.g. the thermostats for the compressors as used in fridges and freezers often cause a brief pulse of interference on an analogue picture or picture breakup with DTT.

Even ordinary light switches can sometimes affect reception for an instant!

If there is a clicking sound on analogue, I suspect the TV's using mono sound. Is there an option to turn on stereo (Nicam) sound with the TV (usually in the sound menu)? How good is analogue picture quality? Can you pick up Teletext/Aertel with no problems?

There might be an option to turn on stereo. Analogue picture and Aertel are OK. Thanks to everyone on this thread for their suggestions.

There's a problem with RTE1 Analogue from Cairn Hill for some time now.
No-one seems too bothered to fix it though.
    I've given up asking.

The clicking was almost certainly a decoder fault at Cairn Hill. I think its sorted now since Monday. Prior to this, there had been a visual fault with pixilation on the same transmitter.

I had seen some pixelation on Cairn Hill analogue alright but I don't remember hearing regular and repeated audio clicking.

Had been occurring for about a week or so. One click about 2 or 3 times a minute. Also audio drop outs about a second in duration every so often. Low priority for NL.

I have noticed the same thing on RTÉ 1 for the last couple wks, My aerial is also pointed at Carinn Hill Transmitter so I would imagine there lies, or laid the problem.
