I just got into an inane arguement with a randomer who had the audacity to call the C.L - Chumps League.
And that Liverpool and so on are destroying football for people.

Apart from Liverpool not being in the CL, he's probably right.
Its an elitist league that 99% of clubs stand no chance of ever playing in.
All the seedings are fixed as per the world cup.
It hinders transfers as players cry and cry about "only wanting CL football"
Prawn sandwich bridgade fat cats, look at the ticket prices, whilst grass roots clubs go out of business
It should undoubtedly be scrapped.

No one expected them to do so well.They were near relegation two or so seasons ago.
I dont think anyone knows what can happen in the C.L

They spent 150 million over 18 months in 2008/ 2009

Exactly my point - and to reinforce it - just look at Leeds

Yep diluted for the money again.
Everyone agrees theres too much money in football, yet they wont cut one of the biggest producers of it.

The more money that clubs have, the more the smaller clubs struggle (And go bankrupt) trying to keep up, as clubs will just keep spending more and more on wages and players

The way I read it is that he's bemoaning the fact that this is what is required to "compete", not so much that clubs are doing it, but that they almost have to do it to get to the top level. Which I do agree with.

Well my original answer was slightly tongue in cheek, but I do find it hypocritical that FIFA want to cut clubs spending and there they are creating one of the biggest money spinners in football!
