Springwatch 2012 starts on BBC 2 tomorrow at 8.00pm

For anyone interested in whats going on around them in nature this series never disappoints.
For three weeks on BBC Two, from 28 May to 14 June, Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan and Martin Hughes‐Games follow stories of survival in Spring, a crucial time for wildlife.
As well as watching the action on all the live cameras, the series will reveal the beauty and drama of this exciting season as spring unfolds. Springwatch will also report on the latest wildlife news from across the UK, reacting to stories as they happen, and investigating the events that matter.
Springwatch will once again involve viewers in surveys, inspire everyone to get outdoors, to share their stories and most importantly make a difference to the understanding of nature.

This year, Springwatch has a string of firsts for wildlife lovers to enjoy, including:
    • seeing into the heart of a kingfisher’s nest
    • witnessing internal rivalry in a family of urban peregrines
    • delving underground to film moles

In 2009 music bloggers noted how Packham was attempting to fit as many references to songs by The Smiths into his Springwatch dialogue.
In 2011 Packham emulated this feat, albeit this time referencing songs by the Welsh band Manic Street Preachers.
He has continued this in 2012's Springwatch, quite subtly inserting David Bowie titles from 28th May.

    Something to listen out for.
I like David Bowie but I wouldn't necessarily know the titles of lots of his songs but I'm enjoying the series so far.
Apparently so far he has mentioned Scary Monsters, Aladdin Sane, Be my Wife, Kooks, The Prettiest Star, Cygnet Committee and Watch that Man.
