    Hey,

Has anyone had any experience with last minute holiday deals?
Thinking of going on one with the g/f in august or early september and we are not that fussy on where to go....
Just wondering a few things about them....
Are they much cheaper than say if we were to book one now?
Is it other peoples cancelled holiday?

    Any advice is welcomed?

    Thanks

A last minute booking could be a holiday that hasn't been sold, a cancellation or sometimes a compromise of empty seats on a charter flight married with some other operator's empty rooms.

The problem with last minute bookings, particularly in August is that demand is so high at that time of year that there are rarely significant savings to be made, married to the fact that some tour operators actually impose a late booking charge!

Best bet at the moment is, seeing as you're not fussy about where you go, is to do a trawl for cheap flights and then take a look at the likes of www.booking.com and see what accommodation is available. Take a look at some tour operator sites like www.sunway.ie or First Choice and see what packages they have for the same period.

On Thursday 26/05/11 I booked 1week sun holiday in Lanzarote through
http://www.lowcostholidays.com/default.aspx to fly out 2 days later

192 euro per person based on 2 people travelling and including
flight + 20 kg luggage allowance per person
    airport transfer
    self catering apartment

I had a great time and cant recommend this travel agency highly enough
    Regards

i'm planning to do the same. www.lastminute.ie usually have great deals and what ive done is searched for dates that suit me in late aug to see what the max i'd have to pay is and then i can work from there. if u have a handful of places in mind you should find something in your budget.

also tunisia and turkey will be much cheaper this year after all the trouble earlier in the year. might as well take advantage as well as help the really lovely people (in tunisia at least) get back on their feet.
