Colour B4?

Okay I have been dying my hair black for nearly 3 years regularly every 6 weeks with Clairol Nice and Easy shade Natural black permanent dye.

Today I bought 2 boxes of the Colour B4 Extra Strength Colour Remover and have already used one. I have noticed little difference. The roots are prominently lighter but the ends are not really any lighter.

The question I'm asking is, Is it ok to use the second box of the remover once my hair dries?

    Thanks:)

Using the second pack won't harm your hair at all, just make sure you rinse it out really well, you'll find it will lift more colour the more you rinse.

dont apply it to ur roots.. there is no coour build up on ur roots. just apply it to the ends and midlengths. and of course it damages your hair its basically bleaching your hair. any type of colour remover will damage your hair. make sure to use intensive treatments afterwards.

Colour B4 doesn't contain bleach, afaik it shrinks the colour molecules in the dye, this however is less successful in removing red dye as red stains the hair. I used Colour B4 and my hair was in perfect condition after.

i have never used it myself.. but recently had to fix someones hair who had.. her roots were blonde and her ends were ginger.. ! black is such a hard colour to get rid of!

Same happened to my friend, I tried to explain to her that it wasn't the fault of the product, it was just the result of dying her hair every colour under the sun for years on end! Once the colour was stripped she had about three different colours underneath.

I put the Nice n Easy non-permanent in ash blonde for her straight away, it's mild enough to use right away and the colour is very neutral so just enough to cover the unevenness. After two weeks you can get a permanent dye in again.

I put the second box in last night and it had no effect on my hair whatsoever. About 3 inchs of my roots lifted and the rest is still black :(

Do you think I should try one final application or will i just have to get it stripped?

That's really strange. I used it on my sisters hair and it lifted her colour no problem.

I'd try it again, maybe try leave it on for slightly longer? It's going to cost quite a bit in the hairdressers unfortunatly.

Don't forget to use some good conditioning treatments.

I think this is because of 3 years of black dye build up. I left it on for 60 minutes so how long should i leave it on for? This black hair is an actual nightmare. I think I'm gonna try it one more time during the weekend and if that fails I think I'll try a bleach bath on part where the dye didn't lift.

    Thanks for your help:)

AFAIK you can apply it up to 3 times per the instructions in the box, though if applications 1 and 2 didn't do too much, I wouldn't hold my breath for third time lucky. If you use silicon based conditioners and styling products they can interfere with how well it works, so they recommend using a clarifying or build-up removing shampoo a few times before applying the Colour B4.

Also try covering your hair in clingfilm and sitting in a warm environment for the 60 mins if you haven't tried that already.

Are you using Regular or Extra Strength? The second one is recommended for darker colours.

Pow Wow is correct, products with silicone are killer where hair is concerned. So many products have silicone as an ingredient, usually the ones that claim high shine or glossing properties. The damage is doubled if you then use straightening irons or curling wands after-you basically seal the silicone into the hair shaft by heat. Try washing your hair in Fairy Liquid, T-Gel, or a good quality clarifying shampoo, don't use a conditioner after and then try the Extra Strength on the lenghts of your hair. It doesn't matter how long you leave the Colour B4 on if you don't rinse it properly, I ran the immersion tank cold i rinsed my hair that long, and it took all the colour out-this is after 15 years of hair colour building up!

    Hi OP,
I have had the same experience as you. I have really long hair and have been dying it black for about 8 yrs. I used 3 boxes of the colour b4 and although it lifted the colour from the top of my head it was still very dark in comparison at the bottom. Luckily for me I only wanted to change to a brown anyway (not as harsh as the black) so i just put a brown dye over it which sorted it out.

If you want to try again after putting on the product wrap your head in clingfilm and put a hat over to keep the heat in-I also read that blasting it with the hairdryer every 10 mins r so helps too as the product works better heat activated. In saying all that i think this product would work better for girls who have just put a colour in and didnt like it rather than years of colouring.

I would say go to a hairdresser if you can afford it and want to go a much lighter colour, as sometimes these things are just best left to the professionals! Hope that helps in someway :)
