Modifying Telecaster

I have an old Squier Telecaster (my first electric). It's in bits on account of me dismantling it and sanding it down with the intention of modifying it.

Now I'm in the mood to do this. It needs refretting. I now have a standard US Telecaster. But what can I do to this one?

    Suggestions?

if it needs a refret then i'd suggest higher the action and use it as a slide guitar!

you'd buy a new squier neck for the price of a refret

Turn it into an Esquire. Everyone needs an Esquire. :)

It's a single pickup variant of the Telecaster. Well, technically the other way round but... hey! lets not get bogged down in semantics. The Esquires have some cool wiring going on.

    Tone switches are da bomb.

Its more a question of what cant you do with it?

    1) New bridge and new tuners,
    2) a tremolo perhaps,
    3) new electronics (active, passive), reverse the contol plate
    4) the 4 way switch mod, new pickups. Coil tapping (if you fit HBs)
    5) change it into a deluxe/custom/esquire.
    6) if your a Keith Richards fan turn it into a 5 string' micawber'.
    7) Add a preamp, or boost

I agree with the idea of getting a second hand squier neck rather than a refret

There are plenty of cool ideas on www.tdpri.com
