Confirmation that Bayern talks with Klose have broken down
Bayern Munich today confirmed Germany striker Miroslav Klose will leave the club at the end of the month after talks over a new deal broke down.

Klose, 32, joined the Bavarians from Werder Bremen in 2007 and has scored 24 goals in 98 Bundesliga games. He was a peripheral figure last season with Mario Gomez emerging as the club’s first-choice target man.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge today said: “Unfortunately talks with Miroslav Klose have not led to a positive conclusion.

“We would have liked him to stay but we could not find common ground on the length of the contract period.

“FC Bayern would like to wish Miroslav and his family all the best for the future and are grateful for his contribution over the past four years.”

Klose, who has been linked with Lazio and Valencia, said: “I have had four beautiful and successful years at Bayern and I thank them warmly.

“It was special to play for this club.”

Poland-born Klose made his name at Kaiserslautern before joining Bremen in 2004.

He helped Bayern to the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double in his first year at the club and was also instrumental as they reclaimed the league title in 2010 and reached the final of the Champions League.

He has won 109 caps for Germany, scoring 61 times, and his record of 14 goals in World Cup finals is second only to Brazil’s Ronaldo.

He was also linked with Tottenham iirc, wouldn't mind seeing him playing for us next season.

I've read that Lazio are in for him too. Not a surprise, Bayern bought Nils Petersen, the top goalscorer of Bundesliga 2 last year

I would have thought he'd have a better record there too, especially considering the amount of international goals he has.

Podolski couldn't score for Bayern either and he was banging them in for Germany at the time. That said, he's never really been that prolific for Cologne either.

He seems to care more about playing for Germany, than club football.

At least it is the opposite in thinking compared with most of today's pros.

I'd take him at Liverpool. He'd be on decent wages, but would be good cover/competition for Carroll.

That would be great, but there are no links into this direction yet, I suppose ;)

He has spoke of his admiration for Liverpool many times in the past. We are his English team so to speak.

Unless you think as a club team to go to the world cup, i wouldnt sign Klose.
Guy has a great name purely based on WC performances.

But i am sure there will be teams, just under the absolute top in a few leagues, battling for his signature.

I follow the Bundesliga, and I never heard about that tbh. Maybe it's because I don't like Bayern Munich that much ;)

Would like to see him in the PL too, Could def do a job for Spurs. Will probably end up in Spain or something though because of the lower tax rate.

You'll have to pry him away from the dizzying heights of Galway United first :pac:

Great player though. Just think he was in his prime at Werder so the 28 goals was still a decent feat.

thats what i love about bayern and german football in general, they tend to sign unknown or lower league players and can still compete at the top.

That includes about 30 games where he has come off the bench. He came off the bench 14 times this season.

I'd love him to come to HSV but it wont happen.

Okay, it is a source from outside Germany, but any source known to me in Germany didn't mention it ;)

I would not be surprised if the Juventus free transfer tank rolls over this chap which would make me very happy because our forwards are cack.
