Wii 2: So what will happen to our virtual console games?

From what I read the Wii 2 will be compatible with original Wii games but what about all the downloaded VC games we've downloaded? I spent a fair few quid over the years and I really hope I can transfer my purchases onto the Wii 2.
Until this is confirmed it kind of puts me off buying anything from virtual console. Considering the Wii 2 is compatible with original Wii games I see no reason why it shouldn't be compatible with Game Cube games also.
I doubt it will as Nintendo will probably put Game Cube games on their new virtual console. It does make more financial sense I guess.

I'm also eager to find out about this. My current wii has a broken drive and I'm reluctant to buy another due to this issue...just playing vc games now until I hear more about wii2. Can the VC games be transferred to a new wii if I replace my broken one or is it the same scenario? Hopefully it'll work the way apps do from the itunes/android market

Considering Nintendo won't transfer online games to a new console I wouldn't be surprised if they make you buy everything again.

If that turns out to be true that will seriously p1ss me off. I've copied my VC games from my Wii internal memory to an SD card just incase.
Nintendo are allowing people to transfer their DSI games to the 3DS so I'm hoping something similiar when the Wii 2 is out.

I'm guessing you could transfer your VC games to an SD card and use that as a medium to transfer them to a new Wii.

Does it work like that? I thought there was something to stop you otherwise people could download a VC game and give it to all their mates via sd card?

On the DSi to 3DS transfer, there's a download for DSi that allows the trandfer via wifi to the 3DS then the original game is erased automatically from the DSi.
I presume there'll be some sort of option such as this for the Wii 2

I presume there'll be some way to transfer them to the Wii2...I mean Nintendo offer it if you break your wii and get it replaced by them..and there's been other reports.

And there's dsi to 3ds transferral (Well you lose saves apparntly) so would only be stupid if there was no way.

Same as DSi to 3DS I assume.

It's not compatible with Game Cube games, only Wii games.

No mention on the classic controllers are compatible with it, but Wii mote, Nunchuk, Wii plus and Wii balance board are.

Think the basic idea was all Wii games/accessories were fully backwards compatible on the next console...Should be a quote somewhere to this effect :pac:

Gamecube thing was disappointing.....but it was about time...and those ports were taking up a lot of room...and hey if this means they'll offer us (possibly enhanced...ie HD..) gamecube titles on the virtual console...then all the better! :D

They were used at Ubisoft's Killer Freaks Demo for two player.
One played used the touchscreen to co-ordinate attacks on the other player who used a classic controller (pro?).
