Walking out the door the other day from my flat with my 5 year old lovely girl. Witnessed this loud 'dialogue' between a mother and child:

Mother: 'SHOVE IT UP YOUR.... 'HOLE'!. aimed at her 5yr old son!

Now she is a single mom, ok stress is a factor but surely that is a bit much? The mad thing is I am unlucky enough to have three of these single Mom 'parents' of the same 'nature' living in close proximity to my front exit (flat-land council area).

Day to day they swear loudly at their kids, I Kind of get the stress factor and all that, but I would never talk to my child the way they do. I am a 'parent', it is hard work and I do that work as best as I can. As such I have learned to treat my child with respect and learn to control my impatience and personal stresses in sync with her own lovely patience with my occasional tiredness and stress.

Regularly these single moms swear and derate their little kids by swearing at them in the most derisive ways. Why?

After some thought... I pity these parents, they are not equipped by design as parents, they are only children themselves whom did not have 'parents' themselves in the real sense. Only unprepared individuals whom treated them like crap, they do the same to their own offspring as such.

What has struck me recently is... The kids regularly attacked individuals including myself randomly (attention seeking I guess). The kids inevitably come across me in various situations and I have treated them as any decent adult would i.e. I remained authorative, treated them fairly, ingored the jaunts and personal attacks, treated them as an adult figure would do.

Strangley this is working as such and they respond well and seem to 'repect' me, the parents though are seemingly not equipped to do this, they just treat their kids like crap and the kids behave accordingly to a degree, mostly (the kids have decent potential) the 'parents' seem to have less due to their own upbringing I guess.

The point of all this is 'I do have a point' is that it has given me a realisation of the huge responsibility of what being a parent is about.

I think that I was and am lucky to have had a Mom that is a kind and decent person, she is and was a good 'parent'. I think that maybe, just maybe I would and could be swearing at my kids and be horrible to them if it was not for her. I would like to think that but who knows really?

Ok I could go on forever and everything with multitudes of examples and opinions, that would make me in danger of becoming self rightous without input from other folks' opinions on this;)

This is more of a type of chat you have with your mates after a few pints so off to the pub with it.

I'm fucking suck of mods dumping crap threads into AH that really have no place here. The feeling seems to be, "Not suitable for Parenting (or other forum).. move it to AH."

This place gets treated like a fucking rubbish tip some days.

As opposed to people starting threads in places they don't belong. If it was originally posted here would you have had such a reaction? imo it's an AH type of thread - and I already notified the mods about moving it here. If I'm wrong they can move it back or lock it. There's no need to get so emotional about it.

at the end of the day you got to trust your own child to find their own way.

at the end of the day they are going to be gettting in to situations that we would not wish,

    however, i digress.

It seems the AHs posters don't want this thread, so it's a lock.
