Training for retail management

Hey just wondering if anybody has any tips on how to go about qualifying myself for a retail managerial job,in a medium to large company,without having to go back to college full time? Are there any courses that deal with retail management specifically?

Most of the companies that i have worked in have in-house management training for employees. Any employee who has an interest can apply. Having a 3rd level qualification wouldn't be necessary.
