    Hi,

Building a garage and thinking of extending the roof out over some colums
to add a rear covered outdoor area........Roman type ones or at least some design.

Does anyone know where these columns can be bought?? how much are they? and are they filled with concrete ect. or come fully precast ??

When you say roman columns, I take it you mean classical columns such as

Personally I think its a bad idea

You can get disposable column formers. They can incorporate polystyrene inserts to give rib effects etc. but they are costly. They are placed on site and then poured with concrete.

what about just using a square timber post with a metal shoe set in concrete to support roof? it'd look better and be easier to do.. (this is suitable vague as its not meant to be structural advice)
