    Hello all,

I often hear people on the radio say things like, ''I'll go to prison before I pay water taxes'' & im not paying the water or house/property tax.

My question is, Surely the gov will just take these taxes in the same way the USC is taken. In other words, people wont have a choice if the tax is taken out or not because it will be taken at the payrol stage:confused:

    Unlikely.

The household charge proposed is a local authority charge, so most likely will be charged directly by the local authority in the form of a bill.

However if you don't pay it, they could always turn off your water and stop your bin collections!

If they were to take it directly from income, there would be a difficulty in that the household charge will presumably be only one per household. So they couldn't charge everyone for it. Therefore it wouldn't be easy to figure out who should be charged on their income, and who shouldn't
