Just wondering can anybody give me advice about a work problem. I am working part time in Heatons and my supervisor has told me i either change my hair colour or i will be took off the roster. Im working their for nearly 4 years and my hair has been this colour for 2 years. My hair is red not really bad or anything its like the style Rhianna and alot of people are using lately. My supervisor told me its the manager above him told me to change it and he has never said anything in the 2 years before while i had the hair colour. I like my hair like this and it would cost me roughly 100 euro to change my hair back. All the girls dye their hair, just not red. Is this allowed i would say something if i was going in scruffy or anything but im not. Can they do this like would they tell a natural red head to change their hair colour. Im just very mad and im in work at 2 and really dont know what to say. I could end up saying something stupid and getting sacked and i need the work at the moment.

Ask for a written note to that effect.

Yes, ask for a written note. They probably won't give you one, and they'll drop the whole thing.

If I were you and my boss told me to change my hair colour I would though. They obviously want their staff to look professional and somebody doesn't think whatever shade of red you have going on suits their image. Sorry if that's not what you want to hear!!

My bro used to wear ear rings. His manager told him one day to remove the ear-rings, as they dont allow them in that company.

My brother said that sure, he would, but did that mean all the women in the office couldnt wear ear-rings either.

The matter was quickly forgotten about. Maby you can relate that to your issue in some way to get a solution.
