I have been signing on at my local Social welfare office for the last couple of months until my claim for JSA was processed. Fast forward to last week i got a letter finally to say that my interview with the inspector is next week. The problem is i cant go. The reason been i have found a good job and start it next week. So where do i stand. I plan on writing a letter back explaining my absence. Will my claim just be closed now. I have done everything by the book and have been job hunting for the last couple of months. I have a family and dont have a penny until i start this new job.

You really need to get the social interview sorted if at all possible. If you qualify for JSA, any moneys owing will be backdated to the date you first claimed.

Thanks, I am going to write to the inspector as stated in the letter i received and also call them. I start a job on tuesday in dublin and have the interview for the claim on thursday in cork. I cant make the interview due to the job.
