    hi all,
anyone know the rough cost of sinking a well and water pump. Friends of mine recently had to dig new well etc after 10 years with old well which went dry and paid over 3000 for the priviledge!! does anyone have information regarding this?

Really does depend on how far down they have to go.
If you use someone reputable, you will get the fairest price, because, as its charged by the foot, not-so-reputable crowds have been known to exaggerate the depth they had to go to.
As a rough guide, I think I paid about €2700 for a 270ft deep well.(but it could have been 170ft, its a while ago now.. :o)

Again depends on how deep you have to go - I just got one done for €8 per foot. Went 120 feet.
Pumps can cost from 800 to 1200

Will we be liable for this water charge when it comes in

I say "we" because we have our own well sunk since 1999 ..

Just checked back, and it was actually €1700 for 170ft.
So I suppose €8-€10 a foot or there abouts is a fair estimate. If you have a very close neighbour, they might remember how deep they had to go.
Chances are they wont, but if your that curious, it might be worth asking.

Same as that in the south east. If there's sand or gravel present it will be a little more as steel liners will have to be included. It's also extra for the service pipe and pump.

I say it's time for the administrators to hand out an infraction to this "moderator".
The term moderate doesn't seem to be understood.

    See the post above;

Further derailment of the thread couple/trebled with disputing a moderators instructions on thread and in conjunction with your efforts on another thread can only lead to one outcome.

    Muffler,

In all fairness, do you not think that is a harsh infraction?...
The original comment is very relevant in that the OP is seeking the costs of boring a well....If the new charges will include people with their own well, then OP needs also to factor this in to their figures, so comment is very relevant, do you not think ??

You (and not me:D) are the moderator, but I think a further warning (if you consider it totally off topic) would have sufficed...

I have issued enough warnings and the matter is now closed.

Infraction and ban given for further derailment of the thread.
