I'm entertaining some tourists tonight and they'd like some to hear some trad.

Where would be good to bring them?

I think Gogartys in Temple Bar has musicians (upstairs?). But tbh I would like to avoid TB if possible. I was there for about ten mins last night and it was mental.

Anyone know about O'Donoghues on Baggot st? Do they have musicians? What time do they come on?

Anyone else got any other good recommendations please!!!

Either of the Arlingtons have free music and Irish dancing.

The porterhouse on parliament st (end of temple bar) has a brilliant traditional band on saturday and sunday afternoons... they usually play from around 5pm up to 10pm... then the rock band comes on around midnight. You could take them there and then get out of temple bar area before the madnesss kicks in..:)

I was walking past Whelans ( Camden street or Wexford street ) yesterday and they had the window open and a couple of people playing a bit of music. Not sure if it was exactly what you are looking for though.

Hughes in Smithfield. It's a bit out of town but the session is good.

If they staying there, best go to O'Donoughues on Merrion Row. Go early though as it gets packed! It's where The Dubliners started off! Great spot

I'm pretty sure there's live music there every day from well early on. Different groups have different slots. I reckon there's a gang playing there now already!
It's a lovely pub to bring someone too. Not too tacky but still old world Irish.
Best avoid temple bar where possible I reckon.

Are you confusing Hughes with the Cobblestone in Smithfield.
Hughes is behind the Four Courts.
Hopefully all the best musicians aren't out of town for the long weekend?

No. Hughes behind the Four Courts right on the Luas line has a great session on a Saturday night. In fact the last time I was there (2 weeks ago) there were 2 session happening; one in the main bar and one in the little snug at the front.

Cobblestone is a great spot for a session as well.
