As a local I am just wondering what to other people think of it. I can pop in end have a little wander around if I don't see anything no disappointment. And this is often ! I find a lot of the new stores to be very expensive and the stuff not wearable? Anyone else opinons differ or is it just me as its usually busy at the weekends.

I think it's very hit and miss, and I don't find there's a lot there for me...

That said, LK Bennett can be pretty good (I got a nice dress there last year), and Coast always comes up trumps for me. I got two really nice dresses there 'at the last minute' for 'dressy occasions'.

While you can get lots of good value there, I don't think it's as good as it's made out to be.

I agree it can be a bit and miss for me - a lot of the clothes are geared to the tall and slim type but hubbie loves it for clothes - levi's shop and corso italia. its great for pressies too especially the molton brown shop.

I love it for just wandering around though and having lucnh outside at the italian restaurant is a treat!

I've never found anything worth buying there, apart from some knives. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there.

Hit and Miss. NOthing compared to the outlets in the U.S.

I just find it's all the left over end of season stock from the main stores!

Totally disappointed the first time i visited, i was expecting more along the lines of the US outlets.

I really like it especially during the end of the season sales, i got a gorgeous coast dress for a fraction of the price and some nice workout gear for 30% less. Also I think the place is really nice to walk around and have lunch. Go during the week, it is so empty.

I think it's much better for guys than girls - there's a really good shirt/tie shop there. Every time my OH and brother go there, they stock up on shirts. Really decent quality for a good price.

I enjoy going there but mainly for starbucks and then a nice lunch..its an 80 min drive on the motorway for me so I dont go often. I find the clothes shops are disappointing, very expensive and no where near as good as the ones in the states (still expensive)

I overall like it and I have picked up some good bargains. But it can also be hit and miss. The real problem is that it really doesn't follow the US outlet model. Maybe that's not really possible here in Ireland.

Having said that, I really like the Coast store there, and have picked up some great dresses at really good prices. Ted Baker and Reiss occasionally come up trumps too.

Other days I simply buy nothing.

I've been considering going. Do they stock make-up?

I've never been there but friends say it's expensive. I head to the outlet in Banbridge and find that great. Some shops there also do £1=€1 too so even better value

Agree its better for guys himself likes the superdry Levis etc...
Having never been to a is outlet I wouldn't know the difference ! Is the product in the us better ?

I got a Ralph Lauren top for my brother there at Christmas which I was going to buy him in House of Fraser. Exact same top but at least e30 cheaper. Found the rest of it pretty useless though. Not a big fan of outlet malls.

Interesting, I have only been to the outlet in Banbridge twice but I found it to be useless both time, would def head to Kildare Village before Banbridge.

I don't really rate it. The only shops I get anything in are always Cath Kidson, Clarks and Kenneth Turner. Not really worth the drive TBH.

I have been there too. There were a lot of empty units. I personally thought It wasn't worth the trip up north. They had a very nice shop selling teas/coffees in packets. That was the highlight of my trip.

The only shops I've ever bought in Kildare Village are items from Le Creuset, Villeroy & Boch and the bedlinen shop whose name escapes me.

I've never seen anything worth buying in any of the clothes shops and I found the Reiss shop to be dearer than their online shop.

I like the Radley shop but clothes wise, there's nothing for me there because I'm a size 18.

To be honest if your going there to find a particular item you won't have much luck. If your just heading to get random bargains you should be able to find something. The Coast store and Monsoon are pretty reasonable, and the Clarks outlet is good for basics, but the rest tends to be pretty expensive. That said, there are always some nice little bits to be found. I love the Italian place for lunch, L'Officina, not really a fan of Starbucks so I wouldn't be rushing there.

I've heard Rathdowney outlet is better, but its a bit out of the way to get to, so I have that on the long finger :p

I'm not a massive fan of Kildare Village - I'm sorta-local but would never really bother going in there much, I can't ever seem to find anything that's within any reasonable price range of mine, or even anything that I'm much interested in. I kinda like Jack Wills but once again the prices always make me reconsider buying from them. I find it strange that it doesn't seem to be discounted that much, especially in some shops.

For outlet shopping the best Irish outlet I've ever been to is Junction One in Antrim. I'd go back there anytime.

Just wondering is there much for teenagers there? :)
I'm going to Dublin shopping next week and was thinking of dropping in on the way up. Judging by the comments it's not worth it :(

The first time I was there I thought it was great but when I looked around I didn't see much I liked. LK Bennett and Clarks were the best. Wouldn't be too interested in going there to be honest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,358 ✭✭✭borderlinemeath

I have only ever gone there if I'm passing by, I don't think it's worthwhile to go specifically to it alone.
I have got a few bits but it can be very disappointing at times.

I love the coast there, great it you have a wedding and nothing to wear! nike shop is great too!

Was over there last weekend - my first visit to Kildare Village at a weekend - and found the staff appeared really disinterested. There was no interaction with customers (unless paying for items (or perhaps in the changing rooms)), and it seemed that they were simply counting down the minutes/hours until they finished. I've been there mid week quite a lot, and up until last Saturday I was always telling people about the great, friendly and helpful staff who coudn't do more to assist the customer. But Saturday really left a sour taste in my mouth! :(

/Anyway, enough of my ranting - just needed to vent!

I don't know if there are shops specifically aimed at teenagers, but there are lots of high street shops, like Coast, Karen Millen, Fran&Jane, Juicy Couture, Nike, etc. As mentioned above, it can be very much hit and miss, but worth a visit nonetheless.

Any one know if there are bargains to be had in the luggage shop there? - I think there is a samsonite store? OR would i be better off just keeping an eye out in TK Maxx? It the hard plastci type cases I'm after

I have been lots of times my two teenage kids love it, or at least they did ! I have found that it there are less and less bargains there now and it is more and more hit and miss.

We always went when we had special occasion to get clothes, wedding, confirmation e.t.c but the last few times I have found it has gone down hill , from a value for money point of view. We never came away without something but on the last two visits, other than coffee we got nothing. Have been to Banbridge as well and found it better value for money.

Won't be going back anytime soon to Kildare as it is like they have established themselves now and don't have to make the effort..thats my opinion anyway

I think it's more to do with peoples shopping habits in general.

in my experience people are spending less and less and are far more likely to buy sale goods than full price. Regular high st stores are running continuous sales to try and clear the stock they have, giving generous discounts up to 70% and even more as the volumes are so big.

People are actively looking for a bargain all the time, so heading to the likes of Kildare or Banbridge and expecting a bigger margin of discount than regular high st stores can be disappointing.

I was looking for something in particular so I found it great, but I went down as a last resort! :)

Love the Roxy shop, Karen Millen and Radley! <3
