Helo, I just read about T.S Eliot, who, apparently, earned his BA from Harvard in 3 years as opposed to the usual 4. Is this possible in Irish universities?

The majority of Arts courses are three years in Irish universities, Trinity being a notable exception (four).

    Theoretically, yes.

In some cases you can apply to your department to abridge your course. But this would before the sort of situation where (for example) you'd worked in Electrical Engineering for 20 years and wanted to get a B.A. in it, or something similar.

A regular student generally has to do it the old-fashioned way. In America it's slightly different as you can load your schedule with loads of courses to get through them faster. We don't sign up for classes in that way, so it's not possible here.
