As is the norm to bash the FAI at every oppurtunity without knowing much about what they do. An astounding stat appeared recently when the U19s qualified for the Euros. Every single player in the squad was on the FAIs emerging talent program.

Running a few years from age 10 upwards, best kids in each league (DDSL/NDSL/SDFL,Not dublin) train on wednesdays with 6 fully qualified coaches for a year with a view to playing in regional tourneys vs other leagues. having seen it 1st hand its ****ign amazing the setup in Peamount with the coaches and the kids who at 10 are better than me :(

The cynic in me thinks it may be part of the junior International managers job spec to only pick emerging talent players but **** it worth if any of them players for the full team.

brilliant idea by the FAI and professionally implemented. shame the regional CPOs were made redundant altho some of them still involved working for free.

    my son is on it:pac:

Talking tru your hoop there stovelid :pac:

Was one downside SDFL annilhated Kildare a few times but Kildare league have some link up with Notts Forest imo a bit detrimental to the whole thing, its like Cherry Man City Orchard. Not a good thing for irish soccer to have best kids cherry picked by one team.

Most of the big junior clubs should be called Conveyor Belt FC as you no doubt well know...

Has anybody given somebody at Drogheda a shout. Im pretty sure an Ireland u19 player would get a chance there. LOI Premier Division football would be great for him at his age.

Had them at the door with boots and signed Rooney jerseys.

Would rather he played with his mates but have got that Conveyor Belf FC **** at my front door from a few of the big Junior Clubs, i find answering the door with a pats jersey on kills almost every possible avenue of ****e they spew instantly.

I hope to god we (and other LOI clubs) can break the strangelhold even if it just keeps the kids here a few years more and lets them develop without all the pressure of the "buckshot" route to England approach that is the norm.

Your kid sound good, mate if you usual ghouls are sniffing around - hope it goes well. Must be stressful for you.

Not a chance of us breaking that stranglehold, i suggested to pats youths coaches to show up with pics of Fahey but they not like that, they fairly honest and well meaning. I knows it a horrible way to sign up a kid but the "others" do it so why cant we?

Our youth teams always gonna struggle unless we become indoctrined into normal Junior mindset, your lot trying it years with Tallaght Town and failing big time. We have Mahon and imo its like cheating every single person in Junior football knows him and respects him. He has a plan for our youths and hopefully here" forever" cos with the scholarship and his youth plans we be Pats again.

Not stressful tbh hes only a kid he can play for whoever he wants, hope he picks his mates and not the best team around. He should enjoy it rather than being a piece of veal thats being prepared to be a steak and discarded if he ends being a rasher.
