    Hi there,

Myself and my fiance are looking for venues for our wedding next Summer and we took a drive up to the village at Lyons on the grand canal at Ardclough this evening to take a peak. Its a magnificent setting and we were just wondering if anyone has had their wedding there and whether it was very expensive which is our fear given the stunning surroundings. There are no prices on the website and we've mailed them so we are waiting to hear back from them. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!:)

    Hi there!

I actually used to work there until November so maybe I could help you though Im not too certain on prices I do know that the room hire is approx 1300 and then depending on the different packages theres a few different price plans.

If you have more choices in the courses then it costs a lot more because of waste.. Its a really beautiful venue there, especially in the nice weather albeit sunny or snowy.

Really good opportunities for pictures there aswell especially in Shackelton House. They are usually closed on a Monday and Tuesday and the best thing to do is ring and ask for Eimear or sales.
Its a small enough venue though so you would have make sure guests can check into citywest or carton house on the same night because they have limited number of rooms.. it was only a handful when I was there!

We had our wedding there last September.
We had a small wedding of 30 people, so there were just enough rooms for everyone to stay in.
(Think they have since extended the amount of rooms)
If you are having a much bigger wedding, you will have to find hotel rooms elsewhere for them.

The price for food depends on how many courses you want and you can discuss that with Emer and Paul the Chef.

Firstly, we got married on the grounds on a Monday, we had the whole place to ourselves. That was fantastic.
Think that the Café was about €850 to rent or the larger room downstairs was around €1250.
You get the Shackleton House included in that price.

Our only niggle - their corkage.
We like our wine and weren't prepared to have their cheapest bottles of wine (€25) so brought our own, which we got at a great price from our wine dealer friend.
They charge €15 per bottle corkage.
That's a shocking price to charge for spending two seconds opening a bottle. Our group was small though and only some of them drink wine, so it didn't work out too badly for us.
I think, for a larger group, the place may turn out expensive.

We had a great day and as we had the place to ourselves all day (and night!) we partied till the wee small hours.
We couldn't have been happier with our day.
