Hi, Got a new car and the dealer proposed Supagard protection as a good product for a new car. I think its about 250euro

Has anyone used this produce? How do you rate it?

Are there any better or cheaper alternatives?

    Thanks

    Waste of time.

Ask the dealer this... "Will it be worth €250 more when I trade it in?"

Those kind of things are usually a waste of money.

Our new car treatment would be alot more thorough and costs less for most cars.

You still need to seal it in afterwards

I use Autoglym polish , I'm aware of the sealant they do but I've always thought of it as a gimmick - is it really of benefit ? Does the shine last longer with it ?

I am a firm believer of a couple of coats of wax to seal it in.
    Personally I use
    Harly Wax

Collonite 476 is excellent as well

Next Time round I am going to buy a tin of FK1000P for durability.

Is a matter of preference ;)

have a look on Detailer.ie site

I wouldn't bother with it personally. I was at the dealers today getting a new car and the sales guy actually told me he normally pushes the supaguard treatment thingy with anyone buying a new car but he wouldn't even try to make me waste my money on it. From looking at my car now which is 3yr old, he could see from the pretty damn good condition of the paintwork I had absolutely no need for it as I clearly put work in myself to looking after it.
If you keep on top of your polising and waxing from the start with a new car there's absolutely no need for that jazz. Maybe if your cars going to get heavy usage and you're not inclined or don't have the time to polish and wax regularly then that sort of thing might be an idea, but personally I wouldn't waste my money on it.
First thing I will be doing when I get this new motor is giving it a proper seal and wax!

Sup Del?! I love EGP, it may not be of the greatest benefit with regards protection than good waxes, but I find it gives a really nice shine and good beading which lasts pretty long too. I use it quite regularly when I can't be bothered waxing as it's just so easy to use and readily available! As soon as I start to get less beading slap on another effortless coat and jobs a good un :D
