Prizes in Singles Open Competitions

Hey all, new to golf, have recently received my handicap. Curious as to what the prizes generally are in open competitions? Would I be right in saying that the better the course, the better the prize? Do the prizes generally consist of trophies/medals or is it usually vouchers/golf gear etc.??

our course does gui vouchers that can be used in the club shop, mcquirks etc.. suppose it vary's alright. But hey it's not about what you get it's about the winning.. Great feeling when it happens.
