My phone stopped working today with an error message telling me it's too hot. I know its warm out but how hot does an iPhone need to get before it stops working?

I got this message myself not too long ago. It seemed to just fix itself though.

this maybe related, but this also happened my dads Ipod as he left it sitting in the sun for a few minutes with direct sunlight...after a while it cooled down and then worked again..

I had mine in direct sunlight for a couple of mins today while out n about.
It didn't shut down but when I opened the camera app to take a pic, it gave a warning on screen that the flash was disabled until the device cooled down.

I got the same message on Saturday and this morning I just have a white screen with a long black line :(
I've tried everything to coax it back into life but no joy.

Its just outside of warranty as well so I reckon its going to cost serious cash to fix

Does anyone have any suggestions before I ring Apple?

How long outside warranty? If you call up and it's not long out of warranty they have been known to fix iPhones to protect customer loyalty. Ring em up, don't tell the truth, say it just stopped and press to speak to a supervisor.

Its 2 months out of warranty. I'll ring them in the morning and chance my arm. Tried every fix I could find on the web but nothings worked :(

Cheers for the advice Tazzle!! :D

Took two phone calls and a fair bit of fast talking but Apple have agreed to repair the phone even though its 2 months out warranty.

They were more than decent about it actually - I'm seriously impressed :)
