He said the Government is taking the advice of the Food Safety Authority and the Health Service Executive and will act on any threat to the public.

Speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland, the Director of the HSE's Public Health Laboratory said it was inevitable that the bug would arrive in Ireland. Dr Eleanor McNamara has urged people to take precautions.
German authorities have failed to pinpoint the source of the bacteria, which has affected more than 2,000 people in the last month, but have renewed a warning to consumers not to eat raw vegetables.

whats the deal here?, Will we get a warning not to eat raw veg when it hits? should i buy my cucumber & tomotoes today? advice please....

sounds like they havent got a clue. they dont even know where its coming from! so its hard to know whats the best course of action.

edit...and why is it inevitable? dunno whats even causing the outbreak so how can they say its definitely coming? really weird that. wheres me tin hat?

Of course you can buy veg, just be sure to boil the **** out of them until they fall apart in to mush. So there should be no impact on "Irish Cuisine", then.
