    Hey guys and Girls.
Just wondering if anyone is thinking of going to this event.
I have some discounted tickets that I could pass on and maybe could organise to go as a group?

You think the Open is grossly overpriced, yet you're happy to pay to watch some random burds play? strange.

+1, pricing is a joke and reckon the tournament could be a real flop in terms of having enough spectators to create a good atmosphere. Could be a very sorry sight on tv and international coverage with only a handful of people following the different groupings.

Weekend day tickets are advertised as 50.00 plus 4.95 booking fee and then you have to pay an additional 5.00 for parking. That's a very expensive day out even for a single admission and will not be going as a result.
If they had the tickets priced at a more modest 15.00 or so then people would be more likely to support the event and give the players a real thrilling atmosphere to play and compete in. They probably also recover any price difference in the additional amount of food and drink they'd sell on premises.

Its a tough one really. They are after dropping the prices a good bit since my original post but it's still not enough to get the average Irish golf enthusiast going.

The Aviva was half empty the other night for the Soccer and the touts took a hit at the Hurling yesterday, people just don't have the money now.

I think the organizers of these events are going to have to find a level over the next 12 months where cost and attendance balance up. :(

It'll be interesting to see where this goes attendance wise...no-one's talking about it at present & that ad is down right silly "..the moment you dread..":eek:
Would love it to be a success but fear the worst... As the 2006 Ryder Cup marked a high in terms of this country's ability to present itself to the world so too will 2011 Solheim Cup reveal our current depressed state:(:(
Am going with my wife too & am looking forward to it.

The Junior Cup is on the two days before it at Knightsbrook, the 20th and 21st. I can't see anything about needing tickets so it might be worth a look and the Maguire twins are playing so at least there is some home interest to cheer!:D

Seems to be really low interest in this. Tickets are pricey at 50 euro a day and the weather is uncertain at best.

    anyone know the inside track?

Anyone know if you can pay at the gate on Friday. Will be in the area and was thinking of going along but not 100% sure yet so dont want to buy
    tickets up front.

a copy of the mail i received to day. hope it will help, and no i will not be going, the rub it into them prices is a total putt off.!!

It is hard to believe that The Solheim Cup week is upon us. The excitement is really building in anticipation of the teams arriving on Monday and first official practice on Tuesday. The course is looking great and the grandstands and tented village all set to welcome you when you arrive next week.

I would like to take this opportunity to answer some of the queries that have come in over the last few days:

    1. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance gates
    2. Accompanied children under 18 years of age have free entry into the tournament
    3. Hamleys kids zone for the younger children set in the walled gardens
    4. Practice days entry from €15
    5. Opening ceremony at 5pm on Thursday - President Mary McAleese
    6. Match days - Friday €40, Saturday €50 and Sunday €50
    7. Car parking €10 per day or €25 for the week - payable onsite
I would also like to remind you of the PING Junior Solheim Cup taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday next week at Knightsbrook GC, Trim. Featuring the Cavan twins Leona and Lisa Maguire the European Team under their non-playing Captain, former US and British Women’s Open champion Lotta Neumann, is bidding to regain the PING Junior Solheim Cup trophy it lost 8 ½ - 5 ½ at Aurora Golf Club, Illinois, USA, two years ago.

The lead sponsor PING is providing free entry to this event for all spectators.

Schedule of Events for the PING Junior Solheim Cup:

    Monday September 19
    16:00 Opening Ceremony

    Tuesday September 20
    08:00-08:55 Six foursome matches
    13:30-14:20 Six fourball matches

    Wednesday September 21

    08:00-9:39 Twelve single matches
    15:00 Closing Ceremony

    Thursday September 22
13:30 Junior Challenge at Killeen Castle

Finally I would like to thank you for all your support over the past number of months in helping us build Ally's European Army. Your support and that of your fellow members will be the key difference in helping Alsion and her Team win back The Solheim Cup on home soil.

I look forward to meeting you around the course next week following Europe and chanting and singing of course!!!

Hard luck to the juniors. Great effort. They were leading going into today but the USA came back to draw and retain the cup. Well done all round.

Was there today with my dd,it was really great, the maguires were great as my daughter loves them. The weather was chronic. It was great to see the school kids there supporting Europe. Was not impressed with outdoor food,9euro for a burger and 8euro for a hot dog.I did'nt if many were buying as we took comfort inside and had lovely bacon and cabbage for 12 euro.I really hope Kileen isnt going to be such a rip off!!!! A 9 euro burger......
Americans were in great spirits today and really liked that they supported each other. All in all a good day.Going on Sunday well, daughter is with her Dad.Bet sun will shine then.
