I went in the other day for the first time, couldnt believe how long it takes. I was just looking to see was I eligible for SW. There was 12 people ahead of me so I though right thats grand.

But these people took like 40 minutes each.....
Why are people so long ffs? And why is there only 1 or 2 people at the desk sometimes with dozens in the back office and about 5 free desks.

I dont understand what takes people 40 minutes, are they giving their life story?

I was there an hour and only 1 new person got to the desk. Waited another 15 minutes and she was still there along with 10 people ahead of me, so just left and went home and rang them.

400,000 people unemployed (nearly), an embargo on public service workers, filling up forms, literacy issues, language issues, i could go on... everybody is entitled to as much time as it takes for them to get access to their entitlement.it shouldn t really be a surprise that the local SW office is busy!!:D if its only a general enquiry you are better off to ring or write or e-mail.

It shouldnt take 40 minutes to fill a form. These people should be in and out in 15 minutes end of story.

Some people seem to think its a social gathering where they can chat ****e away for as long as they want.

    Its a disgrace.

mrs byrne is right-language issues, people have lots of questions queries and to be honest should be give the time they need to be sure that when they walk away from the counter they are happy and know what they need. there is nothing worse than being rushed in and out the door. there is more unemployed people than ever with less public sector workers than ever.

Perhaps you should look at the citizens info website http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/

I'm going to close this as we are already in breach of the forum charter, 5. This is not a forum for critiscizing Government Departments or Semi-State Bodies.
